about

This is a collection of "solo" tunes from my post-band days, recorded in the late-90s/2000s (with a few exceptions).

Tracks 1-4 were recorded by me on Garageband in my Madison Ave. apartment in the mid-2000s.

Track 5 was a hybrid: a Garageband recording built on a track I had recorded in a midtown studio for an IBM industrial video for George Faulkner and John Gramaglia (who plays live congas on the track), engineered by Meredith McCandless. 2012.

Rebecca Turner added the lead vocal remotely
Sonna Kim added cello remotely

Track 6 was recorded live to a boombox in my living room on Madison Ave., 2002

Track 7 was recorded in 1991 by Stuart Sharpe at 747 Diamond St. in San Francisco, 1991.

Tracks 8 -10 were recorded by Scott Anthony in his living room in Maplewood, me and Amanda Thorpe's 00-18 live, 2002.

Tracks 11-13 were recorded by Stuart Sharpe at 747 Diamond St. Stuart worked all keyboards, electronic percussion, and machines, I sang and played guitar, and Mark McGroarty played bass on "Our Ever Surmounting Sorrow" and "Martian." 1991.

Track 14 comes from a compilation album of Columbia bands called "Cuts," recorded by Joseph Armillas at J&J Studio in New York, 1982.

Dave Capello: drums
Steven Bernstein: trumpet
Carrie Hamilton: harmonies
John Travis: bass
Gideon Rosen: keyboards and arrangements
Tex Lyon: guitars
Me just singing

Tracks 15-16 are live, from a lo-fi live cassette recording made at Baby Jupiter, 1998-ish.

Me: electric guitar and vocals
Bianca Bob: acoustic guitar and vocals
Marnie Pickens: bass
Bill Gerstel: drums

BONUS Track 17 was recorded on cassette in Bill Gerstel's practice basement (Nolita?) as we were rehearsing for the Baby Jupiter gig: me, Bill, Bianca, and Marni. 1998-ish.

All songs written by me except for "It's Not the Money, Man," for which Daniel Wattenberg wrote the second verse, and "Green-Wood," which was co-written with Rebecca Turner.
